XR-Labs
I had the opportunity to work for XR-Labs full time for 4 months. XR-Labs makes a VR-Simulator for the belgian police and army to use and train in. These trainings are focussed on the strategy side of things and help them prepare for important missions.
My assignments
Vehicle escape
The biggest assignment I had was to create a vehicle escape simulator. This is to train the soldiers how to react when running into an ambush or technical difficulties of the vehicle. This simulator uses real hardware that they can interact with from within VR to make a realistic and immersive experience that is needed for the soldiers to take it seriously.
Instructor
The VR application consists out of 2 parts, the instructor which manipulates the scenario's with commands and the user that uses the VR goggles and are put into the scenario. Creating the instructor side for the vehicle was also a big part of the assignment. This was mainly creating UI and linking it to execute the right function.

ID Control

I also worked on ID control on the NPC. This part was to see how the people that are training react to events with the ID (wrong ID, invalid ID, which ID's to check, ...). This also had some instructor side UI to it.

Tools
During the assignments I also made a bunch of Unity tools to increase productivity. The most "complex" one was the arduino calibration tool used for the simulation hardware like the door of a vehicle. This tool communicates between the arduino and unity using wifi. Thanks to this tool we can calibrate hardware from unity.
